Patrick Mahomes gives major update about his ankle injury as fans fear he could miss Chiefs’ next game
Patrick Mahomes has quashed fears he could miss the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Denver Broncos, despite admitting his ankle is “a little sore” after suffering another injury on Monday night.
There was a hush around Arrowhead during Kansas City’s win over the Bucs as superstar quarterback Mahomes had to be helped off the field in the second half.
Although he managed to complete the match, the ankle injury was a concern as it was the second match in a row in which he felt pain in the same area, abruptly pulling up after a scramble and instead opting to take a throwing a touchdown pass.
“When you’re rolling a little bit, it’s a little painful,” Mahomes told reporters Wednesday as preparation for the Broncos game began.
“But I can relate and I’m looking forward to getting to practice and seeing how I can improve as the week goes on.”

Head coach Andy Reid also confirmed that Mahomes will not be limited in practice, with all signs pointing to the QB1 being ready this weekend.
The Chiefs are still the only undefeated team in the entire NFL and pushed their record to 8-0 with Monday’s win over Tampa Bay in primetime.
Mahomes admitted that the short period between games wasn’t ideal for his recovery, but he did have plans to help.

Andy Reid revealed Mahomes was a full participant in the Chiefs practice on Wednesday
“There’s only so much you can do,” he said. ‘It’s quite late [after Monday night’s game]but after the game, get some stuff in the training room, and then take some stuff home that you throw on there, things that you can do at night and put there to take the swelling down a little bit and things like that.
‘You come in early [Tuesday] and it was a long day yesterday of watching film and getting treatment and doing some rehab type stuff and preparing yourself for a short week and practice [Wednesday].’
It’s clear that practice went well on Wednesday, with the quarterback being a full participant in the session.
Elsewhere, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tershawn Wharton both did not practice.
