Patrice Evra has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him to choose Manchester United over Liverpool in 2006 after comparing their first meeting to ‘an FBI interview’.
The Frenchman will go down in Man United history as one of the club’s all-time greats after winning five Premier League titles, three League Cups and the Champions League over an eight-year spell at Old Trafford.
But Evra has revealed how he might have moved on to United’s arch-rivals Liverpool were it not for Sir Alex’s persuasive tactics at a Paris airport, with the former full-back joking that the Scotsman made him feel like he would “kill” him. if he didn’t join.
After a great season at Monaco, Evra revealed the conversations he had with Ferguson that led to his joining United.

He eventually returned to France with Marseille before returning to England for a second Premier League spell, having opted to join West Ham before retiring in 2019.
