Pat McAfee reveals the insane number of beers he drank in one day ahead of College Gameday in Ireland – after admitting he took EDIBLES on flight
Pat McAfee revealed the excessive number of pints he drank in one night leading up to College Gameday in Dublin, Ireland.
On Saturday, McAfee was across the ocean from ESPN, where Florida State was preparing for a game against Georgia Tech at Aviva Stadium.
During the broadcast he spoke highly of the arrival of college football in Ireland and the reception it has received from Irish fans.
“This is a beautiful time, in a beautiful city,” he said. “Football is back. And ‘what’s the crack,’ they say here and that means ‘what’s the story?'”
“The story of last night for me was 30 Guinnesses,” McAfee revealed. “It’s an honor to be in this city and to be back for another year for this, the greatest show on TV.”

After revealing his pint count from the night before, McAfee was asked if he ‘split the G’ – a tradition for taking the first sip of Guinness – on all his pints. In response, McAfee said he drank all of his drinks.
“Split the G is what people do, but I just broke it, just made it disappear,” McAfee claimed. “And that’s what you have to do when you’re in Ireland, among these great people.”
His revelation came after the ESPN presenter got drunk in front of a live audience during a special edition of Pat McAfee at JR Mahon’s pub on Friday.
During the program, he said that he took edibles with him on the flight to the United States to bypass airport security.
“When you fly internationally, you can’t land in different countries with edibles or weed. AJ, a friend of mine, bought a bunch of edibles,” he said.

“Pilots tell us to make sure there’s none of that on the plane because when it lands, it’s going to be checked. AJ, you and I both probably had 100mg on the plane.”
“It’s similar to my trip from Indianapolis to London, when I had 13 edibles. Last night was a similar situation. AJ and I each took about 100mg.”
Apart from the food and 30 pints, McAfee donned his track suit for match day and heaped praise on the Irish crowd, wearing the national colours on his scarf.
“When you talk about passion, they may not be the biggest fans of college football yet,” McAfee said. “They’re starting to learn to love it here.
“But when you’re talking about being happy that people have come here and experienced the city… Ireland has been fantastic for a lot of people over the last week, the last 24 hours for me, certainly. And this should become an annual tradition for us.”
