Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins has shared his joy at winning the World Cup with his wife Becky Boston and their toddler son Albie as they were reunited in one of Sydney’s trendiest suburbs.

The trio enjoyed breakfast together on Wednesday at a cafe on Clovelly beach in the east of the city, just a short journey from the stunning $9.5 million home the couple bought in Bronte in March 2021.

Cummins looked relaxed and refreshed after spending several weeks on the subcontinent as his team secured Australia’s sixth World Cup title with an underdog victory over India in the final.

The Australian skipper couldn’t hide his joy at being back home with his wife and son as they were reunited in Sydney’s beachside suburb of Clovelly on Wednesday.

Just hours beforehand, Cummins showed off his sense of humor to a bevy of journalists at Sydney Airport, shortly after arriving on a long-haul flight from India.

The 30-year-old paceman joked that he might have a questionable body odor after the tough flight, before reflecting on his team’s impressive win against the shell-shocked hosts in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

“Every half hour you think about winning the World Cup and you get all excited again,” Cummins said.

‘We’ve been on the road for about six months and it was great to finish this. I was quite excited to win, it was a highlight of my career.

“Aside from captaincy, just to play with these guys, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

“We’ll be smiling for a while.”

This year will go down in history as one of the best for Australian cricket – under Cummins’ leadership the side won the World Test Championship, retained the Ashes and went on to win the ODI World Cup.

The skipper said he was in charge of a “pretty happy group” and praised the fact that the Aussies “had to be flawless to get to the semi-finals… and we pretty much were”.

‘Faith never left. We knew that once we clicked, we could compete against anyone and that turned out to be the case,” Cummins said.

‘We will enjoy this for a long time.’

The playing group’s attention now turns to a T20 series against the injured hosts, starting on Friday (12.30pm, AEDT).

Mitch Marsh confirmed that World Cup hero Travis Head was the best on the ground when it came to celebrating, stating that it would be a ‘miracle’ if the batsman is named in the XI for the opening match after some heavy celebrations in recent to dawn.

Head has posted a series of images on Instagram since Sunday, showing him with the likes of Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis.

Winning another trophy in the subcontinent will be a monumental task with the likes of Cummins, Hazelwood, Marsh, Mitchell Starc, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne all unavailable.
