Pat Cummins cops a cheeky swipe from wife Becky as cricket’s first couple and son Albie go trick or treating on Halloween

Pat Cummins’ wife Becky has given the cricket star a good-natured dressing down after he stepped out with her and son Albie for trick or treating on Halloween.

While the Test skipper’s wife went to the trouble of dressing up as Helen Parr from the popular children’s film The Incredibles and his son as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, he wore a very casual T-shirt, shorts, a cap and sunglasses .

Becky shared photos of the family with the caption, “Happy Halloween!!” accompanied by Jack-o’-lantern and ghost emojis – and the hilarious hashtag ‘#daddymadeloadsofeffort’.

The cheeky swipe did not go unnoticed by her 90,000 followers.

“Good job Pat. I’m with you,” one person wrote.

“Pat could dress up as Travis Head on Halloween and scare 1.45 billion people,” another commented, referring to Cummins’ teammate who played a starring role in the Australian team’s World Cup victory over India earlier this year.

“Pat Cummins is dressed up as India’s nightmare,” a third wrote, referring to the upcoming Test series between the two countries.

Becky also posted a vision of Pat holding Albie over a box full of lollipops as a huge crowd of children gathered around them to grab some. He captioned the video: “The reason we ran out of candy so quickly.”

While Becky and Albie were dressed up, the Australian skipper was as casual as can be – and his wife didn’t let him forget it

She features prominently in the cricketer’s new book Tested, in which Pat interviews eleven people (including Becky) who have inspired him by overcoming adversity and showing great leadership.

In it, the couple discuss the heartbreaking toll they suffered when his cricket duties meant he was away for much of the first few weeks of Albie’s life.

“We came home from the hospital the day you left and I remember finding you sobbing on the floor as you were packing your bags,” Becky tells Pat in the book.

‘All I could think was, “Why is he so emotional? We’re doing well. It’s no big deal.”

“They say ignorance is bliss. When I look back, [looking after a newborn on my own for about a month] at that moment was the hardest thing I had ever done in my life.

“But I got through every day knowing that soon I would be on a plane and reunited with you, so I held on to that. That alone got me through some very lonely and tiring days and nights.

“When I finally arrived in Brisbane in November for the start of the summer series, we had two blissful days together before you became Test captain.

‘It was an amazing thing to happen, and so deserved, but it also felt like my world had just collapsed. I had no control over anything. This baby would be the most important thing in our lives, and all I wanted was for us to be together and enjoy him.

‘It felt like that importance, and that time, was being ripped away from me. Your new role was the one thing everyone was talking about. It was all over the news. And every decision and meeting regarding the captaincy seemed so urgent. I was so proud, but also felt a bit hollow.”

Becky is pregnant with the couple’s second child, due in February.

They revealed the news on Instagram in August, writing: “Incredibly happy to finally share us [baby emoji] news!

“We’re so excited to meet you, honey, and add some more craziness to our lives.”

The post was accompanied by photos of Becky showing off her baby bump with Albie, who she cradles in one image as he places a hand on her stomach.

Cummins’ teammate Mitch Marsh was among the first to congratulate the couple on the heartwarming announcement, as were cricket star Travis Head’s wife Jessica, Aaron Finch’s wife Amy, Usman Khawaja’s wife Rachel and Becky’s sister Kara.
