The Blue Mountains home where Pat Cummins honed his cricketing skills has hit the market.

Cummins and his brothers spent countless hours playing backyard cricket in the expansive garden of their four-bedroom family home on Rushden Road, New South Wales.

After owning the property for 38 years, the Cummins family is selling it and the house is already attracting interest due to its location in the Penrith area, size and price of $1.6 million, major plus points.

The house is being sold by Dukes Estates Agents. Daniel Jennings, a broker with the firm and a close family friend, took part in the fiercely competitive backyard cricket sessions with Cummins and his older brothers.

“It’s Pat’s childhood home, the family has lived there for 38 years,” Jennings told realestate.com.

“A lot of things happened in that house, and of course in the backyard.”

Jennings grew up with the Cummins family and played a lot of cricket with the boys.

“We’d go to their house after cricket and they’d wet the backyard and it was definitely damaging to each other’s bodies,” he said.

‘There was a lot of sliding and there was a trampoline at the back to stop the ball.

“That backyard was made for cricket; it’s hard to find that much space in a backyard.”

Cummins recently reflected on his backyard memories and posted images of the infamous sessions on Instagram.

“As a child, I loved playing cricket with my two brothers in the backyard,” he said.

‘We mowed a field, wet the grass for extra slip and had the trampoline as an electric wickie.’

Jennings added that Pat and his siblings were “on another level” in terms of sporting skills.

“That’s why he became captain of Australia and why I started selling real estate,” he joked.

The Mount Riverview home is for sale with a guide price of $1.5 million – $1.6 million. It is where Peter and Marie Cummins raised their five children: Matt, Tim, Patt, Laura and Kara.

Marie died of breast cancer in March this year, while Cummins flew home from India to mourn with his family.

The sale is an emotional event for the family.

“It’s definitely a big time for the family, they’ve been there so long and are very loved in the community,” Jennings said.

‘Here you often hear people talking about Pat. They taught him at school or played cricket with him. Everyone likes to say they know Pat.”

The property features open plan living areas, a new master ensuite and a heated swimming pool.
