Footage shared on social media by shocked customers showed a man appearing to shout at another passenger, pointing his finger and shouting expletives.

A woman is heard barking back and the pair went back and forth, increasing the volume and aggression as other passengers tried in vain to calm the situation.

It is unclear to what extent the argument escalated, but another video filmed as the plane sat on the tarmac in Belgrade showed police rushing into the cabin to drag away one of the passengers.

A struggle ensued and footage showed police bundling the unruly passenger to the ground before dragging him out of the cabin door.

Belgrade is more than 700 miles from Dalaman, with the detour causing a two-hour delay.

SunExpress said: ‘Our flight XQ505, scheduled for April 9 from Manchester to Dalaman, had to divert to Belgrade due to an unruly passenger.

‘Upon arrival, the passenger was taken off the plane by local police and after the passenger disembarked, the plane continued its way to Dalaman.

“The safety and security of our passengers and crew is SunExpress’s highest priority.”

The incident comes just days after a passenger who allegedly drank a bottle of Disaronno on a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Alicante was marched off the plane by police after forcing an emergency landing.

The diversion meant the flight, which departed Britain at 6.08pm on Friday April 5, arrived in Alicante at 11.28pm local time after a 75-minute stop in Barcelona.

The journey ended up taking four hours and twenty minutes, about two hours longer than normal.

A video, filmed about ten rows from the front of the cabin, showed a police officer in black uniform suddenly appearing on the plane, to the collective gasp of dozens of holidaymakers.

A cabin crew member then rushed down the aisle to point out the offender, who was seated about five rows away.

The male passenger stood up and shuffled towards the police officer before being sent away to cheers from his fellow passengers.

Another passenger then appeared to retrieve his bag from the overhead bin and followed the police officer outside, prompting other customers to speculate about the reasons for the pair’s ejection.

One woman said: ‘A few drinks too many, but they didn’t actually do anything.’

In response, a man turned around, looked at the camera and said, “All they did was drink a bottle of Disaronno,” to which another woman replied, “Give it up… is that all they did?” ‘

Another added: ‘This is ridiculous. A flight to Alicante stopped in Barcelona because someone drank a bottle of Disaronno, delicious.

‘How many police cars are there outside? Two and a riot van because two guys drank a bottle of Disaronno.”

Meanwhile, the man was escorted from the plane and disappeared from view, while two more police officers could be seen at the front of the cabin.
