A man has drowned after falling from a bridge into a river in front of shocked bystanders.
The man, who has yet to be identified, is believed to have fallen from the Lennox Bridge into the Parramatta River at Parramatta in Sydney’s west about 7.10pm on Sunday evening.
Emergency services arrived on the scene and removed the man from the water.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, despite desperate efforts by first responders to revive the man.

Shocked onlookers watched from a nearby footbridge, further downstream, as police surrounded the body covered in a sheet on the riverbank.
Footage from the scene showed a man speaking to several police officers.
