Parramatta Eels NRL star Mitch Moses makes a shocking confession about his 11-month-old daughter that will enrage mothers everywhere
- Aspyn Moses was born last September at Mater Hospital in Sydney
- Star missed her birth so he could play final footy for Eels
- Halfback not tipped to play again in 2023 due to fractured cheekbone
Mitchell Moses, star of Parramatta Eels, has shocked mothers across Australia by revealing that he has only changed his daughter’s diaper once since she was born last September.
Moses, 28, who is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the NRL season with a fractured cheekbone, confessed to Triple M’s Ryan Girdler that he hasn’t really been hands-on at home when it comes to the substitution table .
“I can’t,” Moses admitted.
“I did one when she (Aspyn) was born, because the nurse pretty much made me do it.
“I felt like I had to, but that was the only time.”
The halfback also admitted he is “very lucky” to have Bri Gardoni, a tolerant partner.
Parramatta Eels star Mitchell Moses has revealed he has only changed his daughter’s diaper once since she was born last September
Moses, 28, said he only changed his daughter’s diaper because the nurse at the hospital ‘forced me to do it’ shortly after she was born
It is known that Moses missed Aspyn’s arrival because he had to fly to Townsville last year for the Eels Preliminary Final against the North Queensland Cowboys.
Coach Brad Arthur told his best playmaker to come home for the birth – even if it meant losing the game he was meant to win.
‘What are you doing here? Get out of here,’ Arthur said at the time.
But Moses said he couldn’t let his teammates down and instead witnessed the birth of his child through Facetime.
“I just looked at him (Arthur) and said, ‘I can’t leave.’ I can’t leave these guys alone considering how hard we’ve worked all year,” Moses said.
Understandably, for the first time, Mother Gardoni was not happy with Moses’ team-first attitude.
“She was a little nasty at first when she was deployed and said that’s how it’s going to be,” recalls Moses.
‘But she understood. She supported me through everything.
“But I have a family now – this is all for them.”
