Missing two-hour window is now at the centre of police investigation after a woman plunged to her death from a Parramatta seventh floor apartment balcony
Police are investigating a missing window between a mysterious triple zero phone call and the death of a woman who fell from a seven-storey balcony.
Emergency services were called to a unit block on River Road in Parramatta at around 1.40am on Thursday.
Officers arrived on the scene and found the woman, believed to be 39 years old, on the street with serious injuries.
Moments earlier, shocked onlookers had seen her hanging from the balcony.
Despite attempts to revive the woman, she was pronounced dead at the scene. She has yet to be formally identified.
A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene and questioned by police. He has since been released without charge while the investigation continues.
On Thursday afternoon, it emerged that a triple-zero call had been made from the apartment at 11.45pm – almost two hours before the woman fell to her death.
Nothing was said during the call, but the operator heard “raised voices” in the background.
A forensic examination has been carried out at the balcony crime scene in Parramatta, western Sydney, where a woman is believed to have died in the early hours of Thursday.

Police eventually called the number back and spoke to the man inside the building, who gave out his name and address.
Officers confirmed they would attend the property but only arrived after the woman had fallen from the balcony.
“Part of the investigation will be a review of a triple-zero call made on police radio at approximately 11.45pm last night,” Detective Inspector Barry Vincent said.
‘There was no conversation on that call and despite a further two calls from triple-zero back to the caller no contact could be made.
‘Officers from Parramatta Police Command were able to contact that number at 11.47pm where they spoke to a man and he was able to provide an address, his name and where the call came from.
He added: ‘Police told the man they would be present at his apartment.
“Following that call, police responded to other calls for help and shortly before 1:40 a.m., police received calls from a neighbor in the River Road block following reports of a female subject hanging from a balcony.”
“That call was received at 1:40 a.m. and at 1:41 a.m. our officers responded to that scene, where they located a woman in the driveway of an apartment building and immediately began CPR. Despite their efforts, the woman died on the spot.”

Chief Inspector Vincent revealed that there had been ‘previous interactions’ with police and the pair in question and that the man had had an AVO taken against the woman.
He said police “often receive similar calls and it is our usual practice to attend and confirm that all is well.”
‘After they had been to a number of other addresses in connection with other jobs, they were on their way to that address when the (second) call for help came.’
He added: “These are assessments that our officers make routinely, decision-making on that is obviously something we will look at.”
Sai Pamula, who lives in the building, said he heard a “loud crushing sound” and ran to the street where he saw two men and the woman.
“Her partner wasn’t panicking, he was calm and kept saying, ‘She’s not breathing, she’s not breathing,’” he told Daily Mail Australia.
He asked the other man to call the police. They came and performed CPR.”
Mr Pamula said he was told the couple had allegedly had an argument in the street earlier that evening.

“People tried to intervene, but he just didn’t listen to them,” he added.
Uniformed officers were also seen questioning residents of the residential tower.
A neighbor on the top floor said her child was woken by the couple’s “yelling and screaming.”
‘They cursed each other off and on throughout the night. I heard the word ‘ungrateful’ at one point,” she told Daily Mail Australia.
‘It sounded like something had been thrown into the flat. And then I heard a big bang and saw all the sirens.”
Another neighbor who lives six floors above the balcony said he heard a “piercing” scream at 12.47pm.
‘I was half asleep watching TV in our sitting room and I heard a distinctive female scream. “I called my partner, who was in the other room, to ask if it was her,” he said.
The man went to bed, but understood the seriousness of the situation the next morning when officers blocked off the street.
“I think she (the victim) ended up in the flower bed,” he said.
‘It’s so terrible. The innocence of the building has completely disappeared.’
