The terrifying incident happened on Greenacre Drive in Parkwood, on the Gold Coast, at around 5.35am on Wednesday.
The officer was called to the scene after reports of two men sleeping in a badly damaged black Lexus sedan. Police had previously been warned of a suspicious vehicle in the area.
Video obtained by the Gold Coast Bulletin The photo, taken by a person who witnessed the incident, shows the officer yelling at a man in the vehicle to “get out of the car” after pointing a Taser at the man.
The man reportedly tried to grab a gun as officers approached the car.
She can be heard repeatedly telling him to get out of the vehicle as another officer chases saying another man was also in the vehicle.
“Show me your hands,” she said.
After the man refused to obey the officer's command, she tried to force the man out of the car.
“Get out of the damn car,” the officer said.
Seconds later, the man – wearing a black hoodie and colored shorts – jumped out of the sedan and attacked the officer.
She then tasered the man who was screaming in pain as he writhed in pain on the ground as the officer tried to handcuff him.
The officer then told him to stay down and was heard saying, “I'm going to Taser you again” as she tried to grab the man's hand.
As the officer tried to handcuff the man, he rolled onto his back and grabbed the woman by the neck before dragging her to the ground.
He then managed to break free and fled the scene when the officer heard shouting.
She was later rushed to hospital after paramedics were called to the street along with several other officers who began searching for the man.
