A woman living in Paris is shocked by the images of her tiny apartment that costs her $530 a month.

Natalia Vega moved from Peru to the City of Light in December 2021 and has since been posting about her fun life as a student in France on her Instagram account, where she has more than 54,000 followers.

And although the communications student likes to show off her great days online, life in Paris isn’t always as glamorous as it seems.

Behind the glitz and glamour of the glittering Eiffel Tower, Natalia revealed the reality of life in Paris, a country struggling with a sky-high cost of living.

She showed off her 9-square-meter apartment on Instagram, located in the city’s beautiful 7th arrondissement.

A woman who recently moved to Paris has shocked the web after she showed off her ultra-tiny apartment that costs her $530 a month

She captioned the video: “Do you think this 9 square meter apartment in the 7th arrondissement is worth it?”

Natalia took the person behind the camera up the seven flights of stairs before showing off her mini apartment.

She joked, “Welcome to my mansion.”

The student’s apartment had a double bed against the wall, a small kitchen right next to the bed and a tiny bathroom.

Because space was limited, Natalia had to be creative and use her counter as a desk.

There is one window in the apartment, just above her bed.

The person behind the camera asked Natalia how she could live in such a small space.

She replied, “I don’t know.” She also said that she had been living there for two years.

People on the internet responded en masse to the comments, expressing their astonishment at her apartment.

Someone said, ‘She doesn’t live in Paris, she survives.’

Another user added: ‘I still don’t understand how nice it is to live in Paris right now.’

Someone else wrote: ‘What the f! That’s no life.’

“So she lives in a closet, very French,” a fourth commented.

According to Economic intelligenceParis is the second most expensive city in the world to live in.

Being one of the most visited cities and an economic hub, living in the French capital is an expensive proposition.

People on the web flocked to the comments section and expressed their shock over her apartment

“On average, prices for goods and services rose 3.5% year-on-year, the highest inflation rate in the past five years,” according to research by Economic Intelligence.

The average rent in Paris is $818, which is $288 more than what Natalia pays.

Natalia shared how she really felt about her home during a conversation with Newsweek.

She told the outlet: ‘I study communications in Paris and my school has a housing database, so it was very easy for me to rent the apartment.

‘Since these places are for students, I didn’t mind taking it. I usually spend the whole day at school and only go there to sleep.

‘Despite the apartment being 9 square metres, I have my own toilet, washing machine and even a kitchen. Sometimes people who rent these types of rooms, known in France as chambre de bonnes, have to share toilets, no washing machine or even a kitchenette.’
