PSG, which hosts Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, could have been at the top of the table for the time being with a win, but fell to third place with eight points.

They are one point behind second-placed Nice, still unbeaten in the 2023/24 season, and two points behind leaders AS Monaco, who travel to Lorient on Sunday.

“Nice was a very difficult team, with a very attractive game plan,” said coach Luis Enrique. “Physically I think they were superior to us and then they were very good in all counter-attacks.”

PSG were in control in the first half and Ousmane Dembele struck early towards the far corner but was denied by Nice keeper Marcin Bulka seconds after Kylian Mbappe was blocked in the penalty area.

But the match took a quick turnaround when Moffi put Nice ahead in the 21st minute, scoring low inside the near post.

However, the visitors’ joy lasted just under ten minutes and Bulka could only grab the ball as Mbappe smashed it home from the edge of the penalty area to draw PSG level just before the half-hour mark.

Instead, striker Gaetan Laborde restored the lead for Nice after the break from close range, taking advantage of excellent ball control and a pass from a tight angle from Moffi.

Gianluigi Donnarumma prevented the home side from conceding a quick third when Sofiane Diop had a chance from close range, but the PSG keeper was powerless as Moffi fooled the PSG defense to make it 3-1 with a low shot in the 68th minute made of.

The home side stormed Nice’s penalty area in stoppage time, but lacked time and precision to salvage a draw. “There was a great Nice team in front of us,” said substitute Randal Kolo Muani.

“They managed to keep their composure, play football and then score goals.” PSG have not lost any of their previous thirteen home games against Nice in all competitions.

Nice is now one of four teams that are still undefeated in the top flight this season, along with Rennes, Olympique de Marseille and Monaco.
