Race walkers Jemima Montag and Rhydian Cowley have extended their medal haul to Australia, taking bronze in the mixed marathon walking relay at the Paris Olympics.
Montag was fourth in the final phase, but passed Italy’s Antonella Palmisano to finish third, behind Spain and Ecuador.
Alvaro Martin and Maria Perez won the gold medal, while Brian Daniel Pintado and Glenda Morejon took home silver.
It is Montag’s second bronze medal at the Games, after she finished third in the women’s 20km walk last week.
She is also the first Australian woman since sprint legend Raelene Boyle at Munich 1972 to win two athletics medals at a single Olympic Games.
More to come.
