Paris Olympics 2024 LIVE: Tom Daley aims for Team GB’s first gold medal following Adam Peaty’s final heartbreak and Max Whitlock looks to guide the men’s team to a gymnastics team medal
Ireland suffer a disaster defending the near corner as goalscorer Lee Cole sees a shot deflected on target. It’s a penalty stroke.
Australian Blake Govers makes no mistake and shoots hard and low to the right of the keeper. There is no stopping him!
And so the first half ends.
A jam-packed Monday for Team GB
Here’s what to expect from Team GB today: there are plenty of medal opportunities.
Men’s Hockey: Ireland 1-1 Australia
In men’s hockey, Ireland will be looking to bounce back from their first loss to Belgium.
They are currently tied against world number three Australia after being 1-0 down.
It was Lee Cole who scored the ball from a short angle, firing a low shot into the bottom right corner.
A perfectly executed scene to level the playing field.
Kirsty Gilmour off to a strong start
Team GB’s Kisty Gilmour started her badminton singles tournament well this morning.
She defeated Azerbaijani Keisha Fatima Azzahra 21-13, 21-11.
This puts her in second place in Group N, behind He Bingjao.
Team GB in Judo action
Team GB’s Lele Nairne will be in action today in the -57kg judo.
The 26-year-old will face Georgia’s Eteri Liparteliani, who is ranked number seven in the world ahead of the tournament.
It’s a tough opening round for the Briton, but she’s at the Olympics for a reason and will be full of confidence.
Chinese Taipei wins 4-0
The silver medalists from Tokyo are through to the quarter-finals.
Team GB certainly fought, but they didn’t have enough to take the lead today.
But it appears that Chinese Taipei is a force to be reckoned with.
Team GB have some ground to make up in archery
Team GB’s men’s team are currently taking on Chinese Taipei in archery and are trailing 4-0.
They need to win the third set to stay in the match.
And are currently ahead 55-28, with Taipei yet to play.
Welcome!
It’s the third day of the Olympic Games in Paris and there are many medals to be won.
First up are Tom Daley and Noah Williams for the 10m synchronized run
Tom Pidcock also hopes to retain his mountain bike title in the afternoon.
