Paris Hilton revealed that it was the Demi Lovato documentary that inspired her to write her recent memoir.
The 42-year-old heiress, who welcomed son Phoenix in January, released Paris: The Memoir earlier this month, where she opened up about her life and shared her inspiration to open up.
The reality star wrote that the 30-year-old singer’s Cool for the Summer documentary Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, released in 2017, encouraged her to share her own story.
“I was as stunned as the rest of the world by how real, vulnerable and brave she was,” Hilton wrote.
‘In the document, Demi shared a painful reckoning with a difficult past; In person, I saw her in the midst of an intense journey of self-acceptance and discovery. I envied that acceptance. I wanted that discovery for myself,” she added.

In the documentary, Lovato opened up about some of her past struggles with drug abuse and depression.
Lovato then followed up with another documentary series in 2021, titled Dancing with the Devil, where she discussed the trauma of her near-fatal heroin and fentanyl overdose in 2018, which left her hospitalized.
Meanwhile, Paris has been discussing her fair share of her own trauma in her book.
Among the number of serious topics she discussed were her decision to have an abortion at age 20, being raped at 15, and the impact her sex tape scandal had on her career and family.
Many of her bad memories centered on the abuse she suffered while attending a boarding school for troubled teens in the 1990s.
“This book was like a diary,” the socialite said during a recent appearance on Good Morning America.
“I put it all in there, so many really traumatic experiences that I endured, especially as a teenager, and so many memories that I didn’t want to remember, but also a lot of the good and exciting moments. I have lived an amazing life.
‘It was so cathartic and therapeutic to let go of so much because it held me up so much for so long and I’ve been through so many hard times. But just saying it all felt good,” she said.

The hosts, Michael Strahan, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, asked the socialite how her mother reacted to the bombshells Paris dropped in her memoir.
“She’s so proud of me for being brave and telling my story,” she said, revealing that her mother had no idea about some of the difficulties Paris faced as a teenager.
But the Paris in Love star has a lot of joy in her life these days, particularly with her new baby boy Phoenix Barron.
“My little Phoenix is my angel,” he gushed. I’m so obsessed with him. He is everything to me. My heart is so full.
Paris and her husband Carter Reum, 42, announced the birth of their son in January.
On a recent episode of her podcast, the Cooking with Paris star revealed that she and her husband kept their baby a secret until a week after it was born.
And during an appearance on Monday’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she revealed how her mother feels about baby Phoenix.
“Obsessed,” Paris said. ‘Just showing up all the time unannounced.’
