Parents of five-year-old girl help her fulfil final act of kindness after she died in freak accident by accidentally strangling herself on rope swing going down a slide
The parents mourning the loss of the young daughter have performed a final act of kindness on her behalf by donating the five-year-old’s organs.
Aurora Masters died on May 13 after a freak accident in which she strangled herself on a disc swing five days earlier.
Masters’ family says Aurora suffered fatal brain damage and turned off her life support machine after the accident.
Tom and Krystal Masters confirmed that her organs were given to Donor Alliance, an organization that “facilitates the process of organ and tissue donation for transplantation throughout Colorado and most of Wyoming.”
“We know that Aurora’s heart is beating somewhere,” Krysal said, with Tom adding that it “really helps” that they live with that, despite their grief.

The family describes it as a final act of kindness from a little girl who always wanted to help and lead.
“I’m proud of my daughter,” Krystal countered KUSA. “I was already proud, but she still gives.”
In a GoFundMe which has raised more than $30,000, her family and friends continued to show how much they loved her.
“Our dear Aurora Rae has once again demonstrated her ninja skills and courage by working with the Donor Alliance to complete her gifts. She demonstrates the qualities of a black belt,” they wrote.
The family will hold services for Masters on Saturday, June 8, at a local church.
“Our hearts are broken and we continue the journey to honor and celebrate her worldly gifts.”
Aurora, from Fort Collins, placed her small plastic slide close to her disc swing while she played in the yard of her family’s well-maintained home.
But when she went down the slide, her neck got stuck in the ropes of the swing.

Her brain was starved of oxygen when doctors at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora delivered the devastating news Saturday that she will not survive.
The family gathered around the Masters with 19 members traveling from Wyoming and Nebraska to be at Aurora’s bedside.
“We know the power of family,” Kennedy said.
The five-year-old girl was pronounced dead on May 13, according to the GoFundMe page.
The family struggles to understand how the accident could have happened.
But it appears to have happened while the youngster was innocently playing outside.
“She pulled her plastic slide over to where her swing was and somehow got tangled in the swing, and the swing strangled her,” her aunt Kennedy said. Fox 31.
“Her oxygen was limited as a result of the injury,” the family explained.

“She came around when I was in a really bad mental health facility,” he said the Denver Post. “It felt like there was something almost magical about her.”
“I hear all these stories that she was like that to everyone,” he added.
“She literally just had fun and went around, took her light and gave it away for free.”
Krystal says she hopes her daughter’s story will encourage other families to embrace their children.
“I guess what I would say to parents is love your child every minute, have a dance party and just live life. Because you never know when it’s going to go away.’
