The Paranormal Activity franchise will be turned into a stage play on London’s West End – 16 years after the first film in the horror film series was released.
Simon Friend, who helmed the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Life of Pi, has acquired the license for the franchise and plans to bring it to the theater, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Broadway’s Gray House writer Levi Holloway is on board to write the stage adaptation of Paranormal Activity – which is reportedly in “early development.”

The first Paranormal Activity – which premiered in 2007 before a wider release in 2009 – was made for just $15,000 and featured a cast of unknowns – but quickly became a sleeper hit and was even dubbed “the new Blair Witch Project.”

Paranormal Activity is about a young middle-class couple who have just moved into a starter home in San Diego.
They have become convinced that a demonic presence lurks in their bedroom at night when they try to sleep – so they decide to set up a video camera to catch it.
It starred newcomers Micah Sloat, who played the cocky and confident Micah, and Katie Featherston, who played the sweet and charming Katie who has previously been through a terrifying experience.
Since childhood, Katie has been obsessed with dark spiritual forces, which have followed her from house to house and been drawn to her for inexplicable reasons.
This is bad news for her boyfriend Micah, a young trader, with whom she has just moved in.
When strange things start happening around Katie again, Micah decides to buy a video camera and film the events in hopes of capturing something on tape – or debunking her fears.
Rumor has it in Hollywood that Paranormal Activity made its way to legendary science fiction director Steven Spielberg.
Spielberg is said to have gotten so scared while watching the film at home – a door in his house inexplicably locked from the inside – that he turned off the film halfway through and sent it back in a garbage bag.
Paranormal Activity was followed by six sequels, with the most recent – Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin – released in October 2021.
