Palworld developers working to fix server issues ‘ASAP’ as strange ‘Pokémon with guns’ game sells more than 1 million copies in 8 hours
Pocketpair’s open world creature collecting and survival game Palworldunofficially referred to by the internet as ‘Pokemon with guns’ released in early access on Steam and Xbox Series|s today (January 19), and it’s already proven exceptionally popular.
In a after on Twitter/X, Pocketpair revealed that its open-world survival game managed to sell more than a million copies in just eight hours. According to SteamDBAt the time of writing, there are currently over 363,000 people in the game, and that’s not counting Xbox players.
Although this popularity is quite an achievement, it is not without consequences. Pocketpair also reported earlier today that the team is working to resolve server issues “ASAP” after the sheer number of concurrent players caused instability.
“Currently, our server provider reports that due to the large number of concurrent players, the servers have become unstable and you may experience problems connecting to servers,” says Pocketpair. wrote. “We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible! In the meantime, some users have reported success trying to connect two to three times or waiting after starting the game.
Despite what may seem at first glance to be a bright and cheerful appearance, Palworld is full of obscure and generally bizarre features that set it far apart from each other Pokemon and basically any other creature collecting game. Not only can you equip your captured creatures (Pals) with guns, and shoot wild Pals with those guns, but you can also eat them and force them to work. It remains to be seen whether all this will have a long-term impact on how Palworld has been received, but so far it has a ‘very positive’ review on Steam.
