Pakistani, 28, arrested for ‘rape of 16-year-old British girl in bar in Crete’ denies attack and insists incident was ‘limited to erotic situations’ when she ‘followed him to toilet’

Greek police have arrested a Pakistani man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old British teenager in the toilets of a bar in Crete, just meters away from her unsuspecting parents, earlier this week.
The attack happened on Wednesday evening while the 16-year-old holidaymaker was spending an evening with her parents at a bar in the tourist hotspot Malia.
The young victim excused herself to go to the restroom, where she was reportedly attacked by an assailant who followed her into the bathroom.
He quickly fled the scene, but Malian police determined his identity after reviewing CCTV footage from the bar after the victim reported the ordeal later that evening, Greek outlet says. Prototheme reports.
The police have now arrested and charged the man, whose name is not yet known. CretaLive reported.
The alleged rapist claimed that the girl followed him to the toilet after they met at the bar.
The horrific attack happened on Wednesday evening after the 16-year-old holidaymaker spent an evening with her parents at a bar in the tourist hotspot Malia.
The shocking case comes just weeks after police in Mallorca arrested an Italian man on suspicion of raping a British woman on a beach near Magaluf.
The 20-year-old was detained after the victim complained that he had forced himself on her after a night out in Palmanova, which borders the famous party resort.
The alleged victim is a holidaymaker, sources close to the investigation said.
These sources confirmed that the alleged rape had occurred in the early hours of April 11, but the arrest did not take place until three days later after detectives took statements from a witness and reviewed CCTV footage.
A spokesperson for the Guardia Civil in Mallorca said: ‘The Guardia Civil in Calvia has arrested an Italian man aged 20 as the suspected author of a crime of sexual assault against a woman.

‘The alleged victim and the suspect fell together in a late-night bar in Palmanova.
“When the bar closed, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the woman’s disorientation due to the amount of alcohol she had consumed to take her to the beach and rape her.
‘Officers commenced an investigation and managed to identify and locate the alleged perpetrator.’
The unnamed Italian was released on bail by an investigating judge after a subsequent court appearance.
The criminal investigation is still ongoing.
