Paige Spiranac has met Chris DiMarco on social media after the former Masters runner-up complained about playing for $2 million in prize money on the Champions Tour.
DiMarco, a three-time PGA Tour winner, went so far as to advocate for Saudi-backed LIV Golf to buy the Champions Tour and pump up the money for the tour aimed at players 50 and older.
The 55-year-old told the Subpar Podcast: ‘We actually hope that LIV buys the Champions Tour.
‘Let’s play for some real money here. I mean, this is kind of a joke if we get $2 million (at last week’s Hoag Classic).
“Last week there were seven guys (at the PGA Tour’s Players Championship) who made more money than our wallets.”
Paige Spiranac slammed Chris DiMarco for his recent comments about money in golf
DiMarco, 55, complained about playing for a ‘small’ $2 million prize pool on the Champions Tour
Spiranac quickly picked up on DiMarco’s comments and mocked him on her X account
It prompted a sharp response from the golf influencer, who took to
‘That number does not include sponsorship money. Give up your hand if you’re tired of professional golfers complaining about money.’
DiMarco had stopped responding to Spiranac on X as of Tuesday evening, but if the golf influencer sees more of his quotes on the podcast, she’ll likely feel even less impressed.
‘Bye. I’m gone,” he said in response to the question of whether he had joined LIV during his best playing days.
He continued: “Golf has come a long way, and it should. I don’t blame any of those guys for going to LIV.
‘For me it would be purely a matter of money. You’re talking about generational money that these guys are making, and it would be nice to have that in the bank and take care of my kids.”
