Paige Spiranac has defended her choice of clothes when she plays golf, as she reveals some of her outfits ‘really rub people the wrong way’.

The influencer with one of the largest social media followings in sports has responded to commentators who have criticized her skimpy clothing style and the “hypocrisy” of women’s online comments about shirtless baseball players, compared to some of the comments she receives from women.

And recently, Spiranac went viral on social media with her “case study” on whether she plays better wearing lightweight clothing, like a tank top, or a typical golf ensemble, like a skirt and collared shirt.

Spiranac recently explained in an interview why her background influences the way she chooses her outfits Sports illustrated.

“I was a gymnast before I switched to golf,” says the former Cactus Tour member. “I found it so comfortable wearing spandex and very little of it because that’s exactly what you wear when you wear a leotard and compete in a competition.”

Spiranac asked why golfers don’t wear sportswear more often, just like she does

‘When I switched to golf we were struggling a bit financially so I didn’t have the luxury of going out and buying a brand new wardrobe suitable for golf. And so I wore what was in my closet, which was workout clothes. That’s how I learned to play the game.’

Spiranac then asked why golfers don’t wear sportswear more often, since they are athletes after all…

She saw Lucas Glover sweating in his outfit at a PGA Tour event and wonders why golfers can’t just wear the comfortable clothes of their choice.

Spiranac was a gymnast rather than a golfer, because she learned to play the sport with the clothes she had

LIV Tour players, on the other hand, can wear shorts during tournaments.

“That was always my mentality when I started playing golf, and it really rubs people the wrong way, which is shocking,” Spiranac said.

“They’ll be having really intense discussions about whether they should wear shorts or pants, or a collar with a collar or a real collar, and I’m just here in tank tops or spandex and people are like, ‘What are you doing?’ “But I love it.”

“But we’re starting to see that change and fashion are a big part of the growth of the game and that it’s going in the right direction.”
