Paige Spiranac backs Rory McIlroy to WIN PGA Championship – even after his bombshell Erica Stoll divorce

Rory McIlroy is Paige Spiranac’s favorite to emerge victorious at the PGA Championship this week, even after it was announced Monday that he is divorcing Erica Stoll after seven years of marriage.

McIlroy won the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday at Quail Hollow by five shots, seemingly perfect preparation for this week’s event in Valhalla – where he will look to end his 10-year major win drought.

But on Tuesday it emerged that the Northern Irishman had filed for divorce from Stoll after seven years of marriage.

However, golf influencer Spiranac does not believe McIlroy’s play will be hampered by the off-course news.

In a video shared with X on Wednesday, she said: “Everyone seems to have their money on Rory McIlroy. I can see why.

‘He seems to have got his swagger back after a dominant performance last week. And if Rory has confidence and a little pep in his step, there’s no one more fun to watch play golf than him.

‘But as we know, he filed for divorce on Monday. Half of the people say he is free and ready to start winning and playing a course he loves, like Valhalla. Others say this could cause him a lot of stress and pressure.

“I think Rory plays well when he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder and he’s my favorite for the week.”

The 35-year-old McIlroy refused to speak about his divorce at a pre-tournament press conference on Wednesday, but emphasized that he is fully ready for the start of the tournament.

“I’m ready to play this week,” he said. “I think it’s all about confidence and momentum and I have a lot of confidence and quite a bit of momentum this week.

McIlroy starts around 8:15 a.m. local time.

Scottie Scheffler, the Masters champion, is also one of the favorites this week, together with Brooks Koepka.
