Paedophile couple who sexually abused girl causing ‘immeasurable pain and suffering’ are jailed for total of 21 years after she bravely came forward to report the pair

A couple who sexually abused a child and caused ‘immeasurable pain and suffering’ have been jailed for a total of 21 years.

Scott Geraghty, 31, and Chloe Dixon, 26, both from Merseyside, were sentenced yesterday for their horrific crimes dating back to 2020.

Geraghty was jailed for 11 years and six months after being found guilty of 12 offences, including sexual activity in the presence of a child; and inciting a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity.

Dixon was jailed for nine years and six months after being found guilty of ten offences, including possession of indecent images of a child; engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child; and engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Their crimes came to light after the victim bravely came forward to report the pair to police.

Both were also ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely and were given restraining orders to further protect their victim.

Police said Geraghty and Dixon’s crimes have caused “immeasurable pain and suffering to their victim and her family.”

After sentencing, Detective Sergeant Rebecca Igglesden said: “I would like to commend the strength, patience and courage of the victim throughout this long and complex investigation.

“While no outcome can erase the harm caused, we hope that knowing they are in prison will at least provide some comfort and support her recovery process.

‘Our specialist Unity Team is committed to investigating any reports of a sexual offence.

“We have detectives who are specially trained to deal with these serious crimes and ensure victims are supported throughout the process.

‘If you have experienced any form of sexual abuse, or know of a child being abused, please report it to us so we can investigate.

‘We take all such reports extremely seriously and if you can find the courage to come forward and speak to us, we have specially trained officers who will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.’
