Green Bay Packers’ Quay Walker has apologized for shoving a Detroit Lions coaching staff member after becoming the only NFL player to be ejected twice this season following a similar incident in October.

The linebacker was removed from the game following his second altercation with a staff member from the opposing team this season. He was ejected after Lions coaching staff entered the field to tend to an injured player.

It comes less than a week after a Buffalo Bills coaching staff was on the field saving the life of safety Damar Hamlin as she went into cardiac arrest.

“I want to publicly apologize for what happened on Sunday night. I reacted again out of my emotions and took full responsibility for making yet another stupid decision,” Walker wrote on Twitter Monday morning.

‘I have since questioned why I did what I did when the coach was doing his job! I was wrong!!

“I understand that I have to face everything that comes with the decision I made and I am definitely paying for it now.

Earlier this season, Walker was ejected for a similar incident against the Buffalo Bills.

Also to explain my frustration in the tunnel. I wasn’t upset that I was kicked out, I just knew that I was wrong again and wrong for what I did and I couldn’t believe I did it again. To the Detroit Lions and all the coaching staff, including the person I did that to as well. Sorry.’

Walker was seen on camera shoving the staff member in the back with both hands. In an alternate camera angle, when NBC showed the replay on Sunday Night Football, Walker’s push can be seen and DT Devonte Wyatt colliding with him.

He did it right in front of a referee, who instantly flagged him out of the game.

The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter of Green Bay’s 20-16 loss to the Lions, which ousted them from the playoffs and allowed the Seattle Seahawks to take their place.

This isn’t Walker’s first ejection for this offense in his young NFL career. In October, he was ejected from Green Bay’s 27-17 loss to Buffalo.

The ejection came late in a loss to Detroit that ultimately ended the Green Bay Packers' season.

After that incident, Walker spoke to the media and explained the expulsion from his perspective:

“So I was making a touchline tackle when my former teammate… when I was getting up I felt someone push me from behind and I probably misinterpreted it.”

“But I felt the urge and I’m on the sidelines, the feelings flow and you know I’m very excited and all that.” And I only reacted out of emotion.

“So right away, as soon as I did that, I regretted… something I have to live with, something I have to deal with… But I apologize to the guy I pushed, even though I felt like he was pushed, but he can that that wasn’t the case, but at the same time I’m sorry for what I did and I have to face it.’

The NFL has not announced whether Walker will receive a fine for his actions last night. Green Bay finished their season with an 8-9 record.
