A joint Bengals-Packers scrimmage was punctuated by several scuffles involving Green Bay offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins, who was eventually escorted out of practice Wednesday in Cincinnati.
Jenkins was seen shoving Bengal linebacker Germaine Pratt and making a swing at defensive tackle DJ Reader, leading to his exclusion from practice and some criticism from the Cincinnati players.
“Man, he’s crazy, man,” Reader said, using a term that typically means “just a guy.”
Jenkins, 27, is a two-time Pro Bowl selection currently playing on a four-year, $68 million deal. But according to Reader, he owes much of his success to former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets for the season.
“I don’t know that guy,” Reader said of Jenkins. ‘No idea who he is. I mean I see he made two Pro Bowls so good for him but he blocked for Aaron Rodgers. That doesn’t make you nobody.’

The fracas didn’t escalate to the level of the helmet-wielding melee between the Bengals and Los Angeles Rams during a joint workout in Cincinnati last year.
It ended the session immediately.
“Emotions are running high,” said Green Bay left tackle David Bakhtiari. “I know (Jenkins will) never do it in the game. He’s never done that in the game. So the practice, I mean, it’s a little bit different. You know it’s not allowed, but you also know there are no consequences.’
The Bengals and Packers play Friday night at Paycor Stadium.
