Zoe Ventoura landed her “dream role” as Velma Kelly in the musical Chicago which is touring Australia next year.
The Packed to the Rafters star, 42, returns to her roots as she takes the stage at the Capitol Theater in Sydney, where she made her musical debut 15 years ago.
Stepping into the shoes of a character made famous by Catherine Zeta-Jones, the actor said she was “still pinching herself.” Insider on Saturday.
“It’s a dream role and I’ve had dance training so it’s come full circle for me,” she told the publication.
“Going back to my dance roots and back to musical theatre, and to play this part – on this show, with this incredible cast – I can’t quite believe it.”

She went on to say that she is “just really, really excited” to be given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Set in the titular city during the ‘jazz era’ of the 1920s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderess incarcerated in the Cook County Jail.
Velma, Zoe’s character, is a nightclub star who was arrested for killing her husband and sister when she discovered they were having an affair.
Zoe’s big new role comes after she and ex-husband Daniel MacPherson announced their separation in December 2020.
At the time, they shared almost identically worded posts on Instagram, revealing that they had mutually decided to part ways.

Alongside a photo of the couple with their backs to the camera at sunset, Daniel wrote, “It is with the utmost respect for each other, Zoe and I have parted ways.
“Together, we will wholeheartedly continue to raise our beautiful boy Austin. He is and will forever be our number one priority.
“We ask for your respect and will not comment further.”
They have proven to be notoriously private about their only child, keeping him out of the public eye and keeping the pregnancy and birth a secret.
Former Neighbors star Dan married Zoe in 2015 in an intimate ceremony in Noosa, Queensland.
