Cashing in: Nanopore chief exec and co-founder Gordon Sanghera
The scientists and academics behind biotech company Oxford Nanopore have brought in £100 million in wages since its £3.5 billion launch in London in 2021.
Gordon Sanghera, chief executive and co-founder, received £29.2 million in 2022, while chief technology officer Clive Brown received £26.2 million.
Co-founder Spike Willcocks and chief financial officer Tim Cowper were awarded £23.8 million and £7 million respectively, new filings show.
The four together received £14 million last year. The genome sequencing company became a household name during the pandemic because its patented technology, which allows scientists to sequence DNA and RNA, was used to identify and track Covid variants.
