Owen Wilson channeled the late painter Bob Ross in the first still from the upcoming movie Paint.

In the comedy, the 54-year-old actor plays a fictional television painter who bears an uncanny resemblance to Bob, who died on July 4, 1995 at the age of 52.

The film revolves around Carl Nargle, who, according to a plot summary, has hosted the best painting show in Vermont for nearly three decades.

However, the station hires a new painter to revive the canal and Carl begins to doubt his talents as a painter.

Paint is written and directed by Brit McAdams, who makes his feature film directing debut with the film.

The film also stars Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renee, Lusia Strus and newcomer Lucy Freyer.

Paint is scheduled to hit theaters on April 28 and is distributed by IFC Films.

Owen also stars in the upcoming supernatural horror comedy Haunted Mansion, an adaptation of The Haunted Mansion theme park ride that first opened at Disneyland in 1969.

Haunted Mansion also stars Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, Jared Leto, Danny DeVito and Jamie Lee Curtis.

It is the second film based on the theme park attraction after the 2003 film The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy, 61.

Owen will also reprise his role as Mobius M. Mobius for season two of Loki on the Disney+ streaming service.

Season two of Loki is scheduled for release in mid-2023.

The Dallas native has brothers Andrew, 58, and Luke, 51, who are also actors.
