Arne Slot has made a strong start as Liverpool manager.
His Reds side sit top of the Premier League table after winning five of their first six games.
Liverpool also got off to a good start in Europe, beating AC Milan in Italy 3-1 in the first round of Champions League matches.
However, former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes Liverpool are unlikely to win any of these competitions unless they make one key addition.
Hargreaves believes Slot is currently missing a midfield player after Liverpool sold Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in recent years.
Arne Slot has started well as Liverpool manager and his team are currently top of the league
Liverpool won 2-1 against Wolves on Saturday in their sixth Premier League game of the season
Ryan Gravenberch has been Liverpool’s most defensive midfielder so far this season, but Hargreaves is not convinced the Dutchman is good enough to play that role against elite opposition.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Hargreaves said: ‘He’s done brilliantly well, but he’s not a defensive midfielder, which is fine when you’re playing against teams like these who you’ll beat.
‘He is 190cm. He is 22 years old. He has everything. But he is not a specialist defensive midfielder. There is a difference.
‘I think he’s a brilliant midfielder, he’s box-to-box [player]depending on who you’re playing against. But I think in a big match, in a one-off match, to win the Premier League or the Champions League, you need a specialist. Liverpool showed that with Fabinho or Manchester City showed that with Rodri.
‘I still think they will go along with his position. But believe Gravenberch, he took his chance and that’s all you need.
‘That’s what you need as a player, you need someone you trust and he has proven that. I still think there will be tougher tests. I love what he’s doing, but I still think they’re going to get someone.”

But Owen Hargreaves believes Liverpool should sign a replacement for Gravenberch
Gravenberch was one of Liverpool’s best players during the 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.
He made three tackles, won four free-kicks and completed 92 percent of his 62 passes.
