Overwatch 2’s next season to dethrone Junker Queen, make Tracer an elf
Overlook 2 Season 5 kicks off June 13, and players who pay for the game’s premium battle pass will have a new Mythic skin to look forward to: Adventurer Tracer, which not only looks sharp and stylish, but also introduces a new level unlock scheme for the Mythic of the game skins.
Mythic Adventurer Tracer gives the cover star hero of the series a fantasy elf appearance, with an optional hood and fancy armor that gives a villainous appearance. Mythical skins in Overlook 2 lets players customize skins to some degree, with a variety of colors, armor pieces, and accessories.
Blizzard Entertainment revealed on Wednesday that Tracer’s Mythic Adventurer skin unlocks at three levels: level 45 (basic), level 65 (intermediate), and level 80 complete. Players typically unlock a complete Mythic skin at level 80. Level 45 of the premium battle pass is normally true Overlook 2 players would unlock a new hero, but Season 5 does not introduce a new character to the game’s roster.

Season 5 will instead bring the following new and returning features Overlook 2according to Blizzard’s season roadmap:
- Questwatch, a new temporal event mode
- A Mischief & Magic theme
- A cinematic revelation for an unknown hero
- The return of the Summer Games
- 5v5 mini competitive season
- “On Fire” returns
- Creator Workshop mode
Overlook 2 Season 5 also brings some major balance changes – some of which are slight reversals – to existing heroes, including Junker Queen, Lifeweaver, Mei, and Cassidy. Game director Aaron Keller previewed some of those upcoming changes in a blog post on Tuesdaydescribing how Junker Queen will be slightly distracted as she has come to dominate the tank role, especially in higher ranks.
“One of the big changes we made was to passively increase the healing of hair,” Keller said. “We like this addition to her playstyle, but it makes Queen too survivable, so we will be reducing the health she gains from Commanding Shout from 200 to 150 to compensate. We will also increase the cost of her ult by a small amount, as she is getting it faster than before the mid-season changes.
Keller noted that newcomer Lifeweaver “isn’t powerful enough to be a solid choice for most players”, and that upcoming buffs “will offer boosts to his heal and damage output, a heal on Life Grip, a slightly smaller hitbox and some quality life changes in Petal Platform.”
As for the two heroes who lost crucial crowd control skills with the transition from Overexpected Unpleasant Overlook 2noted Keller that Mei’s Endothermic Blaster will be updated to “apply a much greater slow [effect]that “will feel familiar with the way her old weapon worked,” and that Cassidy’s magnetic grenade will be updated to deal less damage, but also apply an effect that slows and blocks movement abilities.
Finally, Overlook 2 players should expect to get less single shots starting in Season 5. That means nerfs for Widowmaker and Hanzo. Keller explains:
Widow’s damage loss will change from 70-100 meters to 40-60 meters. Scalar damage reduction will also increase from 30%-50%. She will still have the ability to shoot 200 health heroes at 50 yards or less in one shot, but otherwise it will no longer be a kill blow. Hanzo gains a small nerf for his damage so that he is no longer able to shoot 250 health heroes in one shot. His Sonic Arrow will also be more recognizable to the enemy team – the intent here is to reduce his kills that feel like they come out of nowhere.
Overlook 2 Season 4, which introduced Lifeweaver, including the temporary Starwatch mode and polished Moira and Brigitte, will run through June 13.
