Over to you, Katie! Boulter’s boyfriend Alex de Minaur cruises into Wimbledon third round with straight sets win over  Jaume Munar… as Britain star prepares to take on Harriet Dart

It was a strong start to the day for the golden tennis couple, as Alex de Minaur effortlessly reached the third round of Wimbledon, ahead of his girlfriend Katie Boulter’s match in SW19.

The 25-year-old Australian proved to be too good for Spanish underdog Jaume Munar on court 3 on Thursday morning. He won the match in the second round with 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 and thus advanced to the next round of the men’s singles competition.

De Minaur, who has been in a relationship with British star Boulter since March 2022, looked set to win his match before his girlfriend took on Harriet Dart on Court One at 1pm.

However, he failed to convert three match points and was broken by Munar, finishing only at 1.10pm.

“It would have been better if I hadn’t broken in the third set,” he said after the match. “I’m going to do my best, shower, cool down and go to Court One to support Katie.

‘I am very happy to have won today. It is never easy to play in these conditions and to decide the match, [but] “I’ve played some great tennis. I’m very happy to be in the third round and very happy that the sun is shining here in London.”

De Minaur enters the tournament in good form after winning a warm-up match in the Netherlands last month and says he has aspirations to go deep this year.

“This is a surface I’ve always enjoyed,” he said. “It’s an enjoyable part of the season for me.

‘It’s special to play here at Wimbledon, so I’ll do my best and hope to go far.’
