‘Oval-shaped’ UFO spotted hovering over Mexico: ‘Spectacular video’
Several Mexican residents shared shocking video footage of a UFO seemingly hovering above the ground, prompting mixed reactions.
Videos on social media showed an oval-shaped object hovering over the western city of Zitácuaro on September 8.
The footage shows the UFO-like figure floating in the air near a tree. A second shot shows it moving slowly against the cloudy sky.
The alleged sightings of flying saucers were reported in the neighborhoods of El Naranjo and Manzanillos.
Mexican residents debated last week whether they had seen a UFO in the western city of Zitácuaro, with some believing it was just one of many sky lanterns seen floating over the country.

Following the videos, some users on X, formerly Twitter, shared their belief that aliens had arrived in Mexico.
“That’s the UFO shape in the shape of an eye diamond,” someone said. “(Must be) some kind of organic ship.”
“Spectacular video, contact between humans and alien races is getting closer,” said another X user. “Anyone who continues to believe that it is a balloon, a drone, a hologram or something else is either blind or does not want to see reality.”
However, others were quick to deny these claims, pointing out that it was most likely just one of many lanterns that float through the Mexican sky during the Globos de Cantoya festival.

“It could have been a test with a hot air balloon, since these types of balloons are common in central Mexico and from a distance they can be mistaken for other objects,” another user explained.
One X user questioned the quality of the video, but conceded that life likely exists outside our solar system.
“So much technology, cell phones with too many megapixels and that kind of imagery,” they said. “I do believe there is life on other planets, but some tests like this don’t help much.”
Some found the alleged UFO sighting amusing.
“They went looking for atoles,” said another X user, referring to the traditional Mexican drink made from water, masa (cornmeal), piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar), cinnamon and vanilla.
“We’ll see more and more UFOs. And the government will contact them,” joked another. “We’ll obey in fear as always. But we’ll never see them.”
