Outrage over MAFS’ anti-male bias as ‘women get away with bad behaviour’

A MAFS viewer called the show’s producers and said this year’s season has been about “bringing the men down” while glossing over the bad behavior of the women.

The fan, who calls herself ‘Anxious Ant’ online, vented her frustrations in a viral TikTok video this week.

In the clip, she responded to a fan’s comment on one of her earlier videos, which stated, “The show is written by a bunch of new wave feminists.”

“Women get away with the worst behavior and men get dragged over hot coals for anything,” the commenter added.

In its response, Anxious Ant said that it agreed that the show had a pro-female and anti-male agenda, and asked the producers to edit the series more fairly next year.

“I support this comment 100 percent,” he said.

“I’ve been watching MAFS and I’m absolutely flabbergasted at the way we’re tearing down the men and highlighting the women.”

She said the last season was edited so the only people she feels sorry for are Caitlin and Janelle, though she acknowledged that Jesse was also portrayed sympathetically.

Anxious Ant also noted that Claire’s apology to Janelle on girls’ night out for kissing her husband Adam was “unbelievable.”

A viewer of Married At First Sight called the show’s producers and claimed that this season has been “taking down the men and spotlighting the women.”

She went on to say that she was “sick of seeing women demean men for so little”, adding: “I can’t take it anymore.”

The TikToker then took stock of the future of the Channel Nine show and offered guidance to the producers of next year’s season.

‘I want you to paint the true image of a character. That’s what I want to see,’ she said.

‘If someone is a horrible person in real life, don’t paint them to be good. We want to see the truth.

“We don’t want to see fragments of a person’s speech or piece them together. I don’t want to see that. I’m done with that. It’s not interesting anymore,’ she added.

‘If you want to mix different types of people to make it interesting, by all means do it. But don’t change a person’s personality type so that they sound glorified in history. I don’t want that. I want real people with real stories. That is what I want.’

There has been a fair amount of brutal behavior this season of MAFS from both men and women.

Meanwhile, Shannon Adams made cruel comments to his wife Caitlin McConville, later admitting he “said them just to hurt her.”

Outsider Tayla Winter was given the ‘villainy edition’ this year, despite her husband Hugo Armstrong revealing that she’s ‘not as bad’ in real life as she’s portrayed on the show.

It seems the only couple who haven’t had a problem in the experiment, and are spending less screen time as a result, is Ollie Skelton and Tahnee Cook, who were photographed moving in together last month.

Casting has begun for the 2024 season of Married At First Sight, which will presumably start filming later this year.

But fans of the Channel Nine reality show are asking the producers to cast people who are genuinely looking for love, and not fame-hungry influencers and actors.

One comment, which received over 500 likes, read: ‘Please rate people better next year. In fact, we like to see people fall in love, not be emotionally manipulated.’

Another viewer wrote: “Maybe they should consider using real people, not actors and influencers just because they look good.”

A third said: ‘I wanted to join and have applied for the last three years and have really realized it has nothing to do with finding love. You only have to be half a celebrity to be accepted and ready to create mayhem.

“It’s unfair to the people who followed me early on and saw success stories, because honestly, I’m screwed in the dating department and completely give up.”
