Outrage as Emma Coronel, beauty queen wife of notorious Mexican drug lord El Chapo, tries MTV-style comeback’

Welcome to Extreme Makeover: Cartel Edition.

The wife who woke up from prison notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin’The Chapo‘ Guzman Loera has recently resurfaced – in a music video in which she wears several plunging outfits.

In an attempt to revive her cartel image, former beauty queen Emma Coronel, 35, is front and center in the MTV style music video for a song called ‘La Señora’ which tells her life story, sung by Mariel Colón Miró, also known as La Abogada (The Lawyer).

US-born Coronel was sentenced to three years in prison in 2021 after pleading guilty to three counts of aiding her husband’s Mexican drug cartel Sinaloa, including conspiracy to launder money and distribute illegal drugs and engaging in financial transactions.

She was released from a temporary work-restricted facility on September 13, 2023, while her husband, who was in charge of the business, continues to serve a 30-year life sentence in the Supermax federal prison in Colorado.

After spending two and a half years in prison, Coronel has decided to live her life to the fullest. But not everyone is thrilled with her new image.

One shocked viewer wondered: ‘Is this a paid listing or just free drug trafficking promotion?’

She plays one of the ‘special actors’ in the music video, alongside former lawyer and now artist Miró.

Miró was part of the legal team that represented El Chapo in his battle against the US justice system. He also represented Coronel and even the late pedophile multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

In the video, Coronel trades her dark, black hair for lush blonde locks and wears a bright red pantsuit that emphasizes her full breasts.

She and Miró are driving around in a large, black Cadillac Escalade SUV and stop in front of what looks like a meeting full of men smoking cigars.

While she talks to them in the background, Miró sings passionately, accompanied by a band.

At one point, Coronel jumps on a horse. She is wearing dark jeans, a white shirt, a vest, and a large black cowboy hat.

Next, the friends go to a lavish house, where they walk around a large in-ground swimming pool.

Before the song was released, the friends promoted it on Despierta América (Wake Up America) – a popular station for Latinos living in the US, according to The Peace.

During an interview with Maria Antonieta Collins, Coronel did not discuss her criminal husband or her ties to the notorious drug cartel. Instead, she focused on her new business venture.

When Collins asked El Chapo if she had any concerns about entering the industry, she indicated that she was excited about her new beginning.

‘Well, yeah, but it’s like everything, right? Everything has bad consequences, everything has good consequences, and at the end of the day something always comes up, why shouldn’t I do something that benefits me?

‘Because I see it as a good thing. They hired me to work as a model on my friend’s project and that was my song.’

Immediately after her release in 2023, it didn’t take long for Coronel to return to the nightlife she had missed so much, as she was spotted in a club in LA.

During the party, also hosted by Miró, Coronel wore white jeans, a brown vest, short black boots and long black hair.

She was seen dancing the night away with her friends to celebrate her release.

Guzman was extradited from Mexico to the United States in 2017 and convicted in July 2019.

He will spend the rest of his life in the notorious ADX Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado, widely considered the most secure prison in the world.

During her trial, prosecutors and her lawyers said Coronel was not involved in the core operations of Guzman’s Sinaloa cartel, which shipped hundreds of tons of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and other drugs into the United States.

“The defendant’s actual role was minimal,” said prosecutor Anthony Nardozzi.

“The suspect was not a leader, an organizer, a boss or any other type of manager,” Nardozzi said. “She was more like a cog in a very large cogwheel of a criminal organization.”

Coronel, who helped Guzman’s spectacular escape from a Mexican prison in 2015, was a regular at her husband’s trial in New York.

Coronel, who holds dual U.S. and Mexican citizenship, was able to travel freely in and out of the United States until she was arrested in February 2021 at Dulles International Airport outside Washington.

Coronel eventually pleaded guilty to multiple federal drug charges.

They were involved in the distribution of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, among other things.

According to Telemundo, she had already asked for forgiveness during her sentencing.

The mother promised that she would teach her daughters the difference between right and wrong: ‘I beg you, do not let them grow up without the presence of a mother.’

She admitted helping him smuggle at least 1,000 pounds of cocaine, 200 pounds of heroin and nearly 200,000 pounds of marijuana into the U.S. over several years.

In 2015, she also helped her husband escape from a maximum-security Mexican prison.

Guzmán, then leader of Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel, was captured and returned to prison before his wife plotted his escape again in 2017.

In 2019, he was convicted in the US of engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise and other charges related to the distribution of tons of cocaine.

The notorious drug cartel boss is serving a life sentence, plus 30 years for the charges. He has since attempted to appeal the conviction.

Coronel was transferred from a federal prison in Texas to a halfway house in Long Beach, California, in preparation for her release.
