An ousted veteran CBS reporter did that wrote a long explanation which claims to reveal details about how the network crushed a Hunter Biden story.
Write on her websiteCatherine Herridge described the broadcaster’s investigation into the laptop as a “missed opportunity for CBS News,” suggesting the broadcaster failed to properly report its findings.
Herridge said she told company executives in early October 2020 that the laptop contained material about “a million-dollar commission from a Chinese energy company,” along with Hunter’s work texts and emails.
But later that month, correspondent Lesley Stahl said during a 60 Minutes interview with then-President Trump that the laptop “could not be verified,” according to Herridge. “Watching the broadcast made me feel sick,” she wrote.
It comes after two IRS whistleblowers spoke to Herridge for an interview and told her they were prohibited from investigating Joe Biden amid the government’s investigation into his son.
Ousted CBS reporter Catherine Herridge has described the broadcaster’s investigation into the Hunter Biden laptop as a ‘missed opportunity’
Herridge said she told company executives that the laptop contained material about “a million-dollar commission from a Chinese energy company,” along with Hunter’s work texts and emails.
Now Herridge is suggesting that CBS did not properly report what she found on the laptop.
“I was tasked with investigating the laptop and its contents after multiple platforms suppressed the story,” Herridge wrote, adding that she had been assigned at the behest of CBS News director Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews for “confirmed reporting” on Hunter Biden in front of Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnel in October 2020.
“Due diligence included working the phones, reaching people in Hunter Biden’s emails for confirmation and cross-referencing legal cases.
“The audited documents I collected also showed that the laptop belonged to Hunter Biden.
“I told Ciprian-Matthews that the vetted materials included a $1 million provision from a Chinese energy company, emails with Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski, and text messages from Hunter Biden.
‘When Ciprian-Matthews asked if there was a ‘Hunter connection’, I replied: ‘Yes, all of them.’
‘I then provided some of the audited data directly to Ciprian-Matthews. We spoke briefly on the phone. What happened next I don’t know at this point.
“Based on my reporting, and as the network’s senior investigative correspondent, the CBS News investigative unit was not assigned to develop more laptop reporting in October 2020. That would have been standard practice.”

Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler sat down with veteran journalist Catherine Herridge for an interview in which they claimed the IRS looks the other way when it comes to the country’s powerful elite, whom they call “sensitive persons”
Herridge said a 60 Minutes interview with then-President Trump later that month “sickened her” when CBS anchors told him the laptop “could not be verified.”
“I knew the laptop data could be vetted and confirmed,” she said.
“I was confused by what seemed like a rift between the CBS News division and 60 Minutes.
“It took another two years for the network to air a forensic examination of the Hunter Biden laptop data.
“I advocated for the report that found both records belonged to Hunter Biden and had not been tampered with.
“Our report was broadcast in November 2022, after the midterm elections.”
