It wasn’t the best days at Elland Road for Leeds United in their game against Aston Villa.
The Whites were with ten men early in the second half and survived by a single point to take 12th in the standings.
Leeds manager Jesse Marsch let his frustration seep into his post-game, comments that criticized Villa’s pace under manager Steven Gerrard – who is currently 14th in the table.
Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch criticized Aston Villa’s slow pace in their match
“Villa is slowing down the game and now we have two or three opponents here who just want – at any time – to throw the ball and take a minute on each goal kick,” Marsch told reporters.
“And so we need some help managing this, right. We can’t do it alone. And again, the sad thing is that for me this is the best environment in the league and our fans don’t come here to watch a game at a snail’s pace.”
Leeds’ point came with a 0-0 draw on Sunday after Luis Sinisterra’s moment of folly left Marsch’s ten-man squad.
The home side held on at Elland Road, but that was with little thanks to the Colombian attacker, who was sent off shortly after half-time.
Leeds went back to 10 men early in the second half with the second yellow card from Luis Sinisterra
Sinisterra failed to pull back 10 yards for a free kick, leaving referee Stuart Attwell with no choice but to show a yellow card. Because the 23-year-old Sinisterra had already been warned in the first half for a foul on John McGinn, this led to a red card.
But Leeds, who watched manager Marsch from the stands when he noticed a sideline ban for his own red card against Brentford last month, was still able to secure a point.
Illan Meslier was called into action twice in the first half to reject Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey.
After Sinisterra’s red card, Philippe Coutinho hit the post with an acrobatic attempt.
Leeds and Villa were unable to break their deadlock at 0-0 as both teams are currently in the middle of the table
