Ormond stabbing: International student identified as man killed while trying to break up argument about rent – as two brothers are arrested
A man who was allegedly killed while trying to break up a fight has been remembered as a “smart and ambitious” international student.
Navjeet Singh Sandhu, 22, from Melbourne, was reportedly stabbed after a fight broke out at a house in Ormond, in the city’s south-east, around 1.30am on May 5.
The brawl left Mr Sandhu dead and another man, in his 30s, injured.
Police arrested two brothers, 26-year-old Abhijeet Abhijeet and 27-year-old Robin Gartan, on Tuesday after they were tracked down in Goulburn, NSW.

Detectives traveled from Victoria on Tuesday ahead of a hearing at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday.
It is expected that investigators will apply to extradite the brothers to Victoria.
Officers responding to the disturbance outside the Ormond home discovered two men with stab wounds.
A fight reportedly broke out at the property before the physical confrontation erupted on the street around 1am.
The victim in his 30s, who has yet to be formally identified, was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police assume that the men involved in the argument were known to each other.
