Ivan Angulo’s early strike gave Orlando City a 1-0 victory over Nashville SC and booked a place in the next round of the MLS playoffs on Tuesday night.

Just six minutes into their clash at Geodis Park, Orlando took the lead when Angulo’s shot from the penalty area went over Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis and ended up in the net thanks to a huge deflection.

The hosts were unable to find a route back into the match, meaning they slumped to a second straight defeat in the best-of-three series and were knocked out of this season’s play-offs.

Orlando, meanwhile, can look ahead to a clash with Atlanta United in the next round.

Atlanta made progress earlier in the evening after gaining the upper hand in a six-goal thriller with Columbus Crew.
