Original host of Channel Nine’s Getaway Tina Dalton returns to the show after 31 years

Tina Dalton returns to Channel Nine’s Getaway 31 years after her first episode aired.

The wildlife expert was one of the very first presenters of Australia’s top travel show and now she’s returned to the series for a special episode.

She takes viewers to beautiful Antarctica, showcasing its natural beauty and fascinating wildlife.

In the special, which airs Saturday at 5:30pm on Channel Nine, Dalton takes an icy journey aboard the Scenic Eclipse.

Discussing the breathtaking marine life, she travels to Stanley Island, Saunders Island, Azure Island and Gold Harbor before reaching Antarctica.

The wildlife expert first appeared on the TV show on May 14, 1992, and has now returned to the exact day nearly 31 years later.

Speak against 9Nowshe said, “When I got the call to host another episode of Getaway, I knew I had to jump at the chance.

“The show has always felt like home and reminds me of the early days of my career.

“Viewers can expect incredible sights of the Falkland Islands and Antarctica from land and aboard the luxurious Scenic Eclipse, which I stayed on, and even from the air in the ship’s helicopter.”

Dalton first started her media career after being called by Channel Nine in 1992 looking for a wildlife expert.

She did a few auditions and her career took off when she got the thrilling call that she landed the gig.

“Getting paid to get those experiences and work with a fantastic crew was a privileged job,” she told Sonshine FM on Friday.

The TV presenter said her favorite memory of her first stint on Getaway was traveling to Exmouth, which happened to be her very first episode.

“We have the most amazing images with the whale sharks and for me it was an extraordinary personal experience,” added Dalton.

Catriona Rowntree has been a longtime travel show host ever since.
