Oreo fans left devastated as popular product is axed just before Christmas

Oreo enthusiasts were disappointed to learn that food manufacturer Post Consumer Brands has discontinued its popular Oreo O’s breakfast cereal ahead of Christmas.

An Someone on Reddit is spreading rumors.”

Post Consumer Brands confirmed that it was discontinuing Oreo O’s cereal to make room for its new product: Oreo Puffs.

“For those who like to dip their Oreo cookies in milk, Oreo Puffs cereal is a brand new, delicious way to enjoy the taste of the iconic Oreo cookie during breakfast!”, TD Dixon, Chief Growth Officer at Post Consumer Brands, said in a statement to The Food Network.

The spokesperson added that the new Oreo brand cereal would be a “permanent addition” to store shelves.

Amid the uncertainty of Oreo O’s return, social media users were left outraged by the product change.

“So that’s why I didn’t see any Oreos on the shelf when I went shopping yesterday? My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined,” said one Reddit user wrote.

Reddit users were even more devastated than X users over the discontinuation of Oreo O.

One person admitted they would ‘never understand’ the decision and always wondered why the cereal recipe would have changed.

Others claimed the cereal was their “favorite” and that the company’s discontinuation decision “scared them off.”

Several Reddit users have also trashed Oreo Puffs, even though Post Consumer Brands hasn’t even released the product yet.

One person claimed that the Oreo Puffs looked like a “huge downgrade” and that replacing the Oreo O’s could be a “potentially troubling development.”

‘I’m not happy with the replacement. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just cocoa puffs,” one Reddit user wrote.

However, several Instagram users were much kinder in their comments about the Oreo Puffs news.

Oreo O’s was created by Post Consumer Brands (then Post Cornflakes) and released in 1997.

The cereal was an instant success, and by the 2000s, consumers around the world could buy Oreo O’s in stores.

Although popularity continued to rise, the product was discontinued in 2007 – the same year Kraft Post cereal sold nearly $3 billion.

Oreo O’s remained a popular product in South Korea after being pulled from store shelves nationwide.

However, Post Consumer Brands announced that Oreo O’s would return to the US in 2017 for $3.98 per box.

Oreo O’s remained popular in the US even as the price rose to $5 in several states.

An 11 oz box of Oreo O’s is currently on sale on Target’s website for $4.39.

Shoppers looking to purchase a 17 oz box of Oreo O’s for a low price can purchase one on Amazon for around $5.

Social media users have compared Oreo Puffs to CoCoa Puffs

Oreo Puffs will feature a mix of chocolate-flavored waffles and marshmallows — a combination that social media users have compared to Cocoa Puffs.

The new cereal will be available at several retailers nationwide, including Walmart and Target.

Unlike Oreo O’s, the cost of an average-sized box of Oreo Puffs will cost $4.99, according to a press release.

The Oreo brand itself has also been in the news after its maker, Mondelez International, began eyeing a Hershey takeover.

Mondelez International, the spinoff of Kraft Foods, is valued at $84 billion, while Hershey is worth about $35 billion.
