Oregon player tossed for SPITTING on Ohio State rival in clash between two of college football’s top-3 teams
- Traeshon Holden ejected for spitting on Buckeyes’ Davison Igbinosun
Oregon wideout Traeshon Holden was ejected for spitting on an Ohio State player during Saturday’s highly anticipated game between the No. 3 Ducks and No. 2 Buckeyes.
Holden was seen spitting on cornerback Davison Igbinosun’s face mask after being targeted by Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
There appeared to have been some contact between Igbinosun and Holden, preventing the Ducks receiver from executing the play. The two then continued whistling, and then Holden appeared to spit on Igbinosun.
Holden was promptly ejected and escorted off the field, where he was seen throwing his helmet in disgust.
The unsportsmanlike penalty proved costly for the Ducks, who were sent back 15 yards. Oregon therefore settled for a field goal and took a 15-14 lead.

Just two plays earlier, Holden hauled in a 32-yard pass to move the Ducks to midfield.
Never a forgiving bunch, college football fans were outraged by the incident.
“I’m going to lose my mind about spitting,” one angry X user wrote
“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” another added. “What were you thinking, Holden?”
Some fans even agreed with the pushing, but drew the line at the spitting.
“That’s horrible,” one person wrote. ‘Talk and push, don’t spit on anyone. This guy has serious discipline issues, to do this in the biggest game of your life is ridiculous.”
A native of Kissimmee, Florida, Holden previously played at Alabama before moving to Oregon.
During three seasons with the Tide, Holden recorded 25 receptions for 570 yards and seven touchdowns.
He was briefly kicked off the Ducks after the 2022 season after being arrested in Eugene on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and coercion charges.
Holden was later acquitted of all charges.
