Oprah Winfrey, 69, flaunts her slimmed down physique at The Color Purple event after addressing her shock 40lbs weight loss

Oprah Winfrey continued to show off her new, slimmed-down physique on Monday when she attended the THR Presents Live: The Color Purple event at the Crosby Hotel in New York.

The TV icon, 69, wowed as she cut a stylish figure in a linen suit and shiny lilac jumper.

The actress exuded confidence in the ensemble as she was joined on stage by American journalist Nekesa Mumbi Moody at the event.

For a glamorous evening, Oprah combined her makeup with her lilac outfit and opted for purple eyeshadow and pink lipstick.

Oprah shocked fans earlier this month at the red carpet premiere of The Color Purple in Los Angeles when she showed off her incredible weight loss.

The star has lost more than 20 pounds in recent months and has insisted her dramatic slimming is not the result of drugs such as Ozempic or Wegovy, as she sees them as the 'easy way out'.

When asked what the key to her weight loss has been, she explained that she has made changes in all aspects of her life.

When asked what she did to achieve results, she said Entertainment tonight during the premiere last week: 'It's not one thing, it's everything. I want to keep it that way.'

Oprah also opened up about body image when she spoke on a panel in New York City for Oprah Daily's series The Life You Want in September.

Oprah was joined by several weight loss experts, including Weight Watchers CEO Sima Sistani, psychologist Rachel Goldman and obesity specialists Fatima Cody Stanford and Melanie Jay.

β€œI don't know if there's another public figure whose weight struggle has been exploited as much as mine,” Oprah said during the conversation.

β€œOne of the things I was so ashamed of, and even when I first heard about the weight-loss drugs, I was having knee surgery at the same time and I was like, 'I have to do this on my own. because if I take the medicine, it's the easy way out,” she said.

She continued: 'There's a part of me that feels – as I think a lot of people feel about bariatric surgery – that I have to do it the hard way, that I have to keep climbing the mountains, I have to keep suffering and that I must do, otherwise I have deceived myself somehow.'

Oprah added that she was “just tired” of the idea “as a person who has been shamed for so many years” regarding her fluctuating weight.

β€œThis is a world that has shamed people into being forever overweight, and all of us who have lived in it know that people just treat you differently – they just do,” she said.

It tells the story of a decades-spanning story of love and resilience and one woman's journey to independence.

In it, Celie (Fantasia Barrino) faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.

The remake is directed by Blitz Bazawule and stars Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey, Taraji P. Henson and Fantasia.

The Color Purple is released in the UK on January 24.
