Shocking footage has emerged of an SUV crashing into a parked car before ramming another vehicle off the road, sending onlookers fleeing.
The video was recorded just after 11pm on Friday at the intersection of Church Street and Kelly Street in Opotiki, on the north coast of New Zealand’s North Island.
The Mitsubishi Pajero flew through the intersection before crashing into a car parked in an empty lot across the street from the Opotiki Hotel.
He then drove through the lawn and crashed into the back of a red sports car, forcing them both into the hotel parking lot.
A group of onlookers standing outside the pub were seen running for their lives as the car continued to drive erratically along Kelly Street.
The red car returned to the road for a few seconds before being attacked again by the SUV and sent into a tailspin by the Pajero at the intersection in front of a NZ police car.
Despite the scene unfolding in front of them, the officers passed between the car and the loose bumper and continued along Kelly Street.
The driver of the larger car was briefly stopped by a spectator standing in front of it before driving away.

A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John Ambulance said they had been informed of the incident but their ‘assistance was not required’.
New Zealand Police confirmed there were ‘no significant injuries’ as a result of the ‘disorder’.
A police spokesman said the vehicle was later spotted along State Highway 35 and pursued from a distance.
The chase ended at the Hikuwai Reserve, northwest of Opotiki, where the vehicle was found abandoned.
Police called for the assistance of the canine unit in an attempt to locate the occupants of the vehicle, but they managed to flee.
“Investigations are continuing to identify and locate those involved,” a police spokesperson said.
