OpenAI plans to release ‘Strawberry’ for ChatGPT within 2 weeks: report
OpenAI plans to release “Strawberry,” its reasoning-focused artificial intelligence, in the next two weeks as part of its ChatGPT service, Information reported Tuesday, citing two people who tested the model.
OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, has sparked new interest and significant investment in AI as companies look to leverage the lucrative technology to improve their products.
The Microsoft-backed AI company reported last week that it has more than 1 million paying users for its business products, helped by strong adoption of its chatbot thanks to its advanced, large-scale language model.
According to the Information report, Strawberry sets itself apart from other conversational AI in that it can “think” before responding, rather than immediately answering a question.
Reuters exclusively reported in July that ChatGPT maker OpenAI was working on a new approach for its AI models in a project codenamed Strawberry.
According to the Information Report, while Strawberry is part of ChatGPT, it is a standalone offering. But it is unclear exactly how it will be offered.
The first version of Strawberry can only process and produce text, not images, meaning it is not yet multimodal, the report said.
Microsoft and OpenAI did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment.
