Footage obtained by South Yorkshire Police showed Mycroft laughing and joking on her mobile phone as music blared in the car before the fatal collision.

Ms Oliver’s family said in a statement after the case: ‘Sarah, our daughter, granddaughter, sister and beloved friend is missed every day.

‘She was a beautiful young woman who had her whole life ahead of her.

“Sarah had the ability to light up a room. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was looking forward to traveling this summer and becoming godmother to her best friend’s baby.

‘She died six days before her 21st birthday and although we should have been planning celebrations, we were planning a funeral instead; her life and our lives were taken from us through selfish actions.

“No family should have to go through what we went through.”

Sergeant John Taylor, of South Yorkshire Police’s Serious Collisions Investigations Unit, said: ‘This is a tragic case.

“Mycroft’s actions showed no regard for the safety of others and resulted in the death of Sarah and two other motorists who were seriously injured.”

‘We know Mycroft was using her mobile phone while driving and was speeding at the time of the collision.

‘I urge people to consider the consequences of these actions.’
