Jay Robert, who has worked as a senior cabin crew for Emirates, responded to Ms Girardi’s post on his popular Fly Guy’s Cabin Crew Lounge Networkcalled her “entitled” and “sexist.”
He wrote: “This is not an Avianca flight attendant issue, a lazy flight attendant issue, a strong or weak flight attendant issue, or a male or female issue.
“This suitcase is your problem, and it is your responsibility to lift it. If you can’t manage it, control it.
“The answer you said this crew member gave you is the correct answer that flight attendants around the world are trained to give.
‘We can help you, but we are not allowed to lift luggage alone. We don’t do this because it is not our responsibility, our health and well-being are not worth your suitcase.

‘Many airlines do not even compensate crew if they are injured while lifting luggage. Many crew members have had their careers ruined by lifting heavy luggage. That’s why airlines don’t allow crew to lift luggage.
‘In my opinion, your comment is not only justified, but also sexist, because you believe that the female crew should not be held responsible if they refuse to lift your bag, but if a man only offers to help but does not lift himself , he is lazy. , weak and less of a man because he wants to protect his health and job.
“As someone who had his career derailed due to back injuries helping passengers, I first and foremost applaud my fellow male crew member for not allowing himself to be influenced by toxic gender stereotypes about what men should do for women.”
At the time of writing, Jay’s post has received 560 comments, with many agreeing with his stance.
One commenter, Mike N Karla, wrote: “You pack it, you stack it. People should show the gate agent that they can lift their own bag over their heads. We have no idea what you packed, or how you probably overpacked it.
‘We don’t have X-ray vision to see what’s inside, or any way to tell us its weight. Get over yourself. Get it together, think like the independent woman you are.’
