One’s careful owner! Queen Elizabeth II’s Jaguar will go under the hammer with NO RESERVE

>

A Jaguar X-Type station wagon once owned and driven by Queen Elizabeth II will go up for auction later this month without a reserve.

The green estate – whose color is known as Emerald Fire – has driven less than 75,000 miles and has an extensive service history.

As befits a car once owned by a monarch, it has a Barley leather interior and a range of comforts such as a sunroof, climate control, electric windows and an automatic transmission.

Despite looking like a family car, the Jaguar, designed by Ian Callum, has a 3 liter V6 engine that sends power to all four wheels, making it incredibly stable when driven enthusiastically.

Although for real petrolheads the Jaguar X-Type was never liked, as most of the mechanical parts hidden under the body of the big cat came from the humble Ford Mondeo.

Air to the throne: The Jaguar X-Type has an electric sunroof, pictured, as well as a climate control system

Inside the Jaguar there is a lot of wood effect and an automatic gearbox as well as a CD and sat nav

Under the hood, the car has a 3-litre V6 engine – the largest and most powerful in the range

In the back, the luggage compartment is lined to protect the car from any damage caused by dogs

The car is sold by Historical auctioneers at Mercedes World near Weybridge, Surrey on November 26 with no reserve.

When a car goes up for auction without a reserve, it sells for what the hammer comes down to – even if it’s just £1. But because of the Jaguar’s provenance, it will likely reach at least five figures.

According to Historics Auctioneers: ‘This fabulous piece of royal history is presented in Emerald Fire with barley leather interior and its first owner was HM Queen Elizabeth II.

This is confirmed by the original booklet stating it is registered as PYN IF, which can also be seen in photos with HM the Queen at the wheel. Equipped with sunroof, automatic transmission, electric windows, climate control, good maintenance history, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and is well maintained.

“The Royal Family may have a long history with Bentley limousines, but they also love Jaguars. Although the late Queen Elizabeth II was seen behind the wheel of several cars during her long reign, her favorite seems to be the Land Rover Defender.

According to Historic Auctioneers, the car has only done 72,544 miles and has an extensive service history

The Queen was photographed in the car in March as she was being driven to take her corgis for a walk in Frogmore Gardens

The back seat in the 13 year old car looks immaculate, as do the door panels, carpets and wood trim

While it is not possible to buy your way to the throne, one bidder can sit in the deceased queen’s old driver’s seat

For a 13 year old car, the bodywork looks immaculate with no damage to a supermarket parking lot, as do the alloy wheels with no signs of collision from curbs and potholes.

“She had a particular fondness for this model, but when it wasn’t available she had a backup car, a Jaguar X-Type Estate.

‘In the photos available on the internet you can see HM Queen Elizabeth II driving this car with Her Majesty wearing sunglasses and a headscarf, which was so typical. She looked happy and healthy as she left Windsor Castle behind and took the Long Walk at the wheel of the Jaguar.

“From 2004 to 2009, the X-Type Estate was not one of the most desirable models the brand has ever built, but who would have thought it would be one of Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite cars?

“It came with two fuel options, but the biggest engine was gasoline. It was a 3.0 liter V6 engine, which Queen Elizabeth II had for this car. This is surely a car for the serious collector or royalist and with an unrivaled provenance, this is unique!’

James Good of Historics commented: ‘It is such an honor to be auctioning such an iconic piece of history – and a car Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II apparently enjoyed so much.

“A beautiful and unrepeatable collector’s item to cherish.”
