In our OnePlus Watch review we gave the wearable four out of five stars, so we’re curious to see if OnePlus can improve on that score with the OnePlus Watch 2 – and some new details about the upcoming device have just leaked.
Unofficial renders of the smartwatch have now been published by MySmartPrice And @OnLeaks (through Android Authority), and among the changes shown is a slightly larger 1.43-inch AMOLED screen (compared to the original’s 1.39-inch AMOLED screen).
We also have a slight bump on the right side of the watch face – this is new and could contain a few physical buttons. It looks like there will be black and white options this time, instead of the single black color the OnePlus Watch is available in.
MySmartPrice says the renders are based on “actual images of a prototype in testing,” so the final design may look different. We’re also told that the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset will power everything under the hood.

Ready to wear operating system
While there may not be any major differences in the design of the OnePlus Watch 2 compared to its predecessor, we hear that there will be a change on the software side: specifically the adoption of Google’s Wear OS 4.
According to Max Jambor (through 9to5Google), the smartwatch will make the switch to Wear OS, after OnePlus went with a modified operating system on its first model. That meant limitations in terms of available apps and watch faces.
It’s the same software that runs on wearables like the Pixel Watch 2, and as a result the OnePlus Watch 2 should be much more versatile in terms of capabilities beyond the core features built-in out of the box.
Rumors about the OnePlus Watch 2 have been pretty thin so far, but we’ve heard that it will be “better” than the original (as you’d actually hope), and that it will launch sometime in 2024.
