OnePlus and Oppo are unveiling an ‘historic’ phone display next week
OnePlus and parent company Oppo have teased what they promise will be “a historic moment for Chinese displays” (according to Google Translate), with a new display set to be unveiled on Tuesday, October 24.
This comes from a post on the Chinese social media site Weibo (through Android Central), and the report tells us that Chinese electronic components maker BOE will also be involved – and that’s about all we know for now.
Well-known tipster Digital chat station has considered saying that the screen in question will reach an impressive 3,000 nits of brightness. That even beats the Oppo Find X6 Pro, which can reach a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.
Since this is just a teaser, many questions remain, such as which smartphones this display can ultimately be connected to. However, it’s something to keep an eye out for next week if you’re interested in the evolution of these gadgets.
Heading to the OnePlus 12?
The next smartphone we expect from OnePlus is the OnePlus 12, which will reportedly be released before the end of the year. One leak that surfaced a few months ago suggested that the phone would have a screen with a brightness of over 2,000 nits.
As you’ll know from our OnePlus 11 review, we were impressed with the brightness and vibrancy of that phone’s 6.7-inch screen, even though it only maxes out at 1,300 nits – so the next phone in the series could more than double the amount. figure.
Of course, there is a possibility that this ‘historic’ screen will also come to Oppo phones. That it’s specific to China is interesting, as both OnePlus and Oppo sell their handsets internationally – although they usually launch in China earlier.
We’ll have to wait and see what OnePlus, Oppo, and BOE have in store on October 24, and maybe we’ll get some more details before then. There probably won’t be many big phone announcements left in 2023, and this could certainly be one of them.
